Key Responsibilities
* Architect climate-resilient housing and WASH facilities, developing designs, drawings, BOQs, and cost estimates that adhere to safety and safeguarding standards.
* Drive the integration of climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable approaches in infrastructure development, ensuring suitability for slum contexts and gender responsiveness.
* Oversee construction, installation, and repair of water systems, sanitation facilities, climate-resilient shelters, and drainage systems, ensuring quality control, compliance, and timely completion.
* Lead community engagement efforts, facilitating participatory planning, community consultations, and awareness sessions to promote ownership and sustainability of infrastructure.
* Develop and implement community-based operations and maintenance (O&M) systems, providing training on basic maintenance, hygiene, and minor repairs to community groups.
* Manage procurement processes, preparing technical specifications and supporting contractor selection, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
* Ensure inclusive and disability-friendly designs, promoting the participation of women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups in community committees.
* Monitor construction progress and quality assurance, maintaining accurate records and preparing technical reports, progress updates, and documentation.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure gender-sensitive, inclusive, and sustainable infrastructure development, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
Requirements
Experience
3 to 5 years
Skills
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and quality controlProficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp)Understanding of WASH standards and public health engineeringGood project management and problem-solving skillsAbility to work in challenging slum environmentsStrong communication and community engagement skillsFluency in Bangla and working knowledge of English
Education
- Diploma in Civil
- Diploma in Civil Engineering
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering works
- Experience in urban slum upgrading, shelter, or WASH infrastructure projects
- Prior experience working with NGOs/INGOs or donor-funded projects
- Experience in climate-resilient construction
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: BDT 45,000 (Consolidated) per month
