Key Responsibilities

* Drive the development and implementation of a long-term strategic roadmap for CNCDN, aligning with national and global priorities in NCD and nutrition, and the goals of BRAC JPGSPH and BRAC University * Architect the CNCDN research agenda, identifying emerging priorities and opportunities in the area of NCD and nutrition, and fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration * Lead high-impact research initiatives on NCDs and nutrition-related issues, with a focus on population health, health systems, digital health, and policy frameworks, and ensure rigorous research standards and ethical practices * Manage and mentor junior faculty and research staff, providing guidance on developing their research portfolios and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals * Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with government ministries, UN agencies, international organizations, and civil society organizations, and engage with regional and global networks focused on NCDs and nutrition * Spearhead grant-writing efforts, proactively identifying funding opportunities from national and international organizations, and contribute to grant-writing efforts in partnership with other research centers/hubs * Develop and teach academic programs, including MPH, EMPH, PhD, and short courses related to NCDs and nutrition, and contribute to capacity building initiatives * Represent CNCDN at national and international forums, enhancing its visibility and impact, and provide thought leadership on NCDs and nutrition-related issues * Collaborate with the research strategy team to advance the JPGSPH research agenda, and contribute to the development of policy briefs, guidelines, and quality standards * Foster a culture of excellence and collaboration within CNCDN and JPGSPH, and drive evidence-based policy advocacy to address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases and nutrition challenges in Bangladesh and the global south.

Requirements

Experience

At least 10 years

Skills

Strong written and oral communication skills in English and BengaliStrong interpersonal and team management skills

Education

  • Doctoral
  • PhD in Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Health Policy, or related field
  • Medical degree (MBBS)

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience in public health or relevant field
  • Demonstrated expertise in NCDs and nutrition through substantial research contributions
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Proven track record of securing competitive research grants
  • Experience of working in low- and middle-income country contexts, preferably in South Asia
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bengali
  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills
  • Strong network within the global public health and nutrition community
  • Established relationships with international funding agencies
  • Expert knowledge of Bangladesh's health system and policy environment
