Key Responsibilities

* Spearhead strategic partnerships with local government, private sector, communities, and informal recycling stakeholders to revolutionize city waste management systems. * Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including local government authorities, private sector actors, and community leaders, to drive sustainable waste management practices. * Architect and implement effective advocacy initiatives to promote waste segregation, recycling, and sustainable waste management practices among diverse stakeholder groups. * Lead stakeholder engagement efforts, identifying and mapping key value chain actors, including recyclers, to strengthen linkages and enhance waste management outcomes. * Drive municipal capacity building, providing technical assistance and support to enhance the effectiveness of waste management systems and services. * Develop and execute targeted behaviour change campaigns to promote community-based resource recovery and recycling systems, driving a cultural shift towards sustainable waste management practices. * Manage and coordinate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and events to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and collective action towards improved waste management outcomes. * Facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration, bringing together local government, private sector, and community stakeholders to co-create innovative solutions for sustainable waste management. * Analyze and address policy and regulatory barriers to sustainable waste management, advocating for inclusive, pro-poor, and environmentally sustainable urban planning and governance.

Education

  • Master of Development Studies (MDS)
  • Masters
  • Master of Social Science (MSS)
  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences/Development Studies, Environmental Science/Urban Planning/Public Administration/Business Administration, or related field

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, or project coordination
  • Understanding of urban waste management systems and stakeholder dynamics
  • Knowledge of partnership development and stakeholder engagement approaches
  • Basic understanding of circular economy, recycling, and informal sector integration
  • Strong networking, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to facilitate coordination among diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work in complex multi-stakeholder environments
  • Problem-solving mindset
