Key Responsibilities
* Drive the development and implementation of city-level waste management interventions, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
* Architect strategic partnerships with donors, local government, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with organizational goals
* Lead the design and scaling of waste management systems, including collection, segregation, resource recovery, and recycling, to create sustainable and inclusive urban ecosystems
* Manage the implementation of project activities, ensuring high-quality outcomes and adherence to organizational standards
* Gather and analyze field insights, translating learning into strategic recommendations for future program design and improvement
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote behavior change, enhance the capacity of waste workers, and expand community-based resource recovery and recycling systems
* Develop and maintain relationships with local government and key stakeholders, advocating for inclusive, pro-poor urban planning and governance
* Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of project progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to ensure project success
* Foster a culture of continuous learning, sharing best practices and expertise with colleagues to drive organizational growth and excellence
* Provide technical guidance and support to project staff, ensuring that all activities are aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices
* Drive the development of innovative solutions to address urban waste management challenges, leveraging technology, community engagement, and stakeholder partnerships to create lasting impact.
Requirements
Experience
At least 6 years
Education
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Civil Engineering
- Master of Development Studies (MDS)
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science/ Management, Urban Planning, Development Studies/Public Administration
- B.Sc. in Civil/Environmental/Mechanical/ Industrial Production Engineering
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of experience in waste management, circular economy, urban development, environmental programming, or related sectors
- Experience in programme design, implementation oversight, and strategic planning
- Prior work with municipalities, donors, and multi-stakeholder urban systems
- Understanding of stakeholder coordination in municipal and urban contexts
- Awareness of safeguarding, gender equality, and social inclusion principles
- Adaptability and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to translate field learning into practical program recommendations
- Excellent coordination and communication skills with multiple stakeholders
