Key Responsibilities
* Spearhead the Resilience Programme in Ukhiya Field Office, driving transformative change in one of Bangladesh's poorest districts, Cox's Bazar.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address the complex challenges faced by the local host community and refugees, including poverty, natural disasters, and strained resources.
* Lead the development of innovative solutions to enhance the resilience of vulnerable households, focusing on shelter, livelihoods, and disaster risk reduction.
* Foster strong relationships with local stakeholders, including community leaders, government agencies, and other humanitarian organizations, to leverage resources and expertise.
* Drive the implementation of the Resilience Programme, ensuring that interventions are tailored to the specific needs of the host community and refugees, and that outcomes are measured and evaluated.
* Manage a team of professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure that programme objectives are met, and that staff are empowered to deliver high-quality results.
* Architect and implement community-based initiatives to improve disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, reducing the risk of damage to homes, shelters, and community infrastructure.
* Champion the integration of environmental considerations into programme design, addressing issues such as land degradation, deforestation, and waste management, to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
* Facilitate the development of community response plans and structures, ensuring that they are equipped to safeguard vulnerable populations and provide substantive protection in the face of disasters.
* Analyze and address the social and economic factors that exacerbate poverty and vulnerability, including limited access to resources, services, and opportunities, to promote sustainable and inclusive development.

Experience

Skills

Education
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Civil Engineering
- Diploma in Civil
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in infrastructure development, DRR, or agricultural engineering projects
- Experience in the humanitarian or development sector is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and reporting/documentation tools
- Valid motorcycle driving license with the ability to travel to project sites
- Gender awareness and a commitment to gender equality
- Experience coordinating with government departments such as LGED, BWDB, DAE, or DDM
- Communication skills in both verbal and written English and Bangla
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Experience working in displacement sites including spontaneous and makeshift settlements is an added advantage
