Key Responsibilities
* Drive the preparation and maintenance of import-export documents, including Bills of Entry, Bills of Export, and Letters of Credit (LCs), to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Lead the development of expertise in preparing and managing documents related to LCs, LCA, UP, UD, In-Bond, and Ex-Bond, to facilitate smooth trade operations.
* Architect and maintain accurate records of LCs, Master LCs, and Back-to-Back LCs, while fostering strong relationships with Advising and Negotiating Banks.
* Manage the application and renewal process for Customs Bond Licenses, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
* Develop a deep understanding of the Harmonized System (HS) Code, as per the Third Schedule of the Customs Act-1969 of Bangladesh, to accurately classify goods and comply with customs regulations.
* Stay up-to-date on Value-Added Tax (VAT) acts and rules, and apply this knowledge to ensure compliance and optimize tax efficiency.
* Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns, including Mushok 9.1 and other related documents, to the VAT office, as required by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of VAT-related documents, registers, and correspondence, to ensure transparency and accountability.
* Develop expertise in preparing and updating various VAT-related forms, including Mushok 2.1, 2.2, 2.5, 4.3, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, and 9.1, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate the issuance of VAT Deducted Source (VDS) certificates (Mushok 6.6) and provide them to stakeholders, as required.
* Ensure accurate deduction of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and VAT Deducted Source (VDS), in accordance with government rules and regulations.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Area Office, Factory, Sales, and Marketing, to resolve VAT-related issues and ensure compliance.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date VAT-related registers, in accordance with the new VAT and SD Act 2012 and Rules 2016.
* Prepare and submit relevant returns under sections 75A and 108 & 108A, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Identify and mitigate tax risks, and review audited financial statements in light of the Income Tax Ordinance, 1984, to minimize disallowances.
* Develop expertise in preparing various types of costing for Price Declarations (Mushok 4.3), to ensure accurate and compliant reporting.
* Prepare and maintain accurate and comprehensive financial records, including Chart of Accounts, Journal Entries, Ledgers, and Trial Balances.
* Conduct field visits and collect data and documents, as required, to support business operations and ensure compliance.
* Demonstrate a willingness to learn from supervisors and apply new knowledge and skills to improve performance.
* Provide support for procurement-related work and documentation, as required, to ensure smooth business operations.
* Perform data entry and general office tasks, as needed, to support the team and ensure efficient operations.
* Ensure the security and safe custody of all documents related to the role, to maintain confidentiality and protect business interests.
