Key Responsibilities
* Drive diabetic retinopathy screening efforts by conducting thorough fundus examinations and visual acuity assessments for T1DM patients.
* Architect a comprehensive grading system for retinopathy findings, utilizing standardized classification methods such as ETDRS/ICDR/WHO to categorize patients as NDR, NPDR, or PDR.
* Lead structured re-screening initiatives for patients with pathologic findings, maintaining a meticulous retinopathy follow-up register to ensure seamless continuity of care.
* Manage accurate and timely documentation of screening findings in patient records and programme databases, including DHIS2, to inform data-driven decision making.
* Develop and disseminate patient screening reports, contributing to periodic programme reports that highlight key trends and insights.
* Facilitate seamless referrals by preparing ophthalmology referral letters and collaborating with ophthalmologists at PDRC and affiliated hospitals, while tracking referral outcomes to prevent patient loss.
* Educate patients and caregivers on retinopathy screening results, vision warning signs, and the importance of glycaemic control, empowering them to take proactive steps in managing their eye health.
* Design and deliver eye care content for HCP training events, both in-person and virtual, and provide on-site technical guidance and orientation to frontline staff at peripheral centres.
* Participate in field visits to regional centres, conducting on-site retinopathy screenings and providing expert technical guidance to enhance programme effectiveness.

Education
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Optometry or equivalent qualification in Optometry/Ophthalmology Technology
Additional
- Registered/certified with the relevant professional authority in Bangladesh
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in optometry or diabetic eye screening
- Proficiency in fundus photography, fundoscopy, visual acuity assessment, and retinopathy grading
- Prior experience in diabetic retinopathy screening is strongly preferred
- Registered individuals in BADAS LFAC and CDiC programmes will be given preference
- Good knowledge of diabetic complications in paediatric and young adult patients
- Strong communication and counselling skills
- Ability to work with children, adolescents, and caregivers
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and willingness to travel to regional centres
