Key Responsibilities

* Drive agricultural development initiatives in Shyamnagar upazila, Satkhira and Manikganj districts, leveraging indigenous knowledge to promote sustainable practices. * Lead the design and implementation of agroecology projects, focusing on climate justice and food sovereignty. * Manage and conduct research on environmentally friendly farming methods, exploring innovative solutions to enhance crop yields and reduce environmental impact. * Collaborate with local communities, farmers, and stakeholders to develop and implement context-specific agricultural programs. * Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including local organizations, government agencies, and community groups, to advance BARCIK's mission and objectives. * Architect and deliver training programs, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the skills and knowledge of farmers, community members, and project staff. * Drive the monitoring and evaluation of agricultural projects, ensuring timely and effective implementation, and identifying areas for improvement. * Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and learning, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and approaches to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability.

Education

  • Master of Science (MSc) in Agriculture
  • Master of Science (MSc.) in Agricultural Extension Education / Crop Botany

Additional

  • Proven skill and competencies in sustainable agriculture/ agroecology, agrobiodiversity conservation, farmers led research, climate change and resilience
  • Good listening capacities and understanding farming communities' struggle
  • Mentally prepared to respect farming communities as a source of practical experiences, indigenous knowledge and associated local technologies
  • Able to conduct on-farm research with farming communities on climate change adaptation
  • Demonstrate collaboration experience, and willingness to work jointly with farming communities
  • Good in communication and writing both in Bangla and English
  • Responsive, good inter-personnel skills and should be gender sensitive
  • Good in operating MS Office, Power Point presentation
  • Motor bike driving license
  • Good knowledge on safe grading (Child Protection, Gender & Anti sexual harassment)

Compensation & Benefits

1 (one) festival bonus equivalent to 1 month gross salary
