Key Responsibilities

* Lead the assessment of needs for families and patients affected by cancer, collaborating with healthcare professionals to identify areas requiring assistance and develop targeted support strategies. * Drive the provision of psychosocial support to patients and their families, utilizing empathy, knowledge, and experience to alleviate suffering and promote emotional well-being. * Manage the distribution of medicines and maintain accurate inventory records in accordance with WCC policy, ensuring timely and effective support for families in need. * Foster strong relationships with patients and families, providing guidance and support during hospital admission, role changes, and treatment, and exploring emotional and social responses to illness. * Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Partner Hospitals, Civil Society, and other Development Partners to advance the mission of WCC. * Architect and implement workshops, training sessions, meetings, and awareness campaigns to educate stakeholders about childhood cancer and promote community engagement. * Identify and document stories of success in treatment, leveraging these narratives to inform future fundraising activities and promote the impact of WCC's work. * Collaborate with the Finance Manager to collect and prepare documents related to family/patient support, ensuring seamless coordination and compliance with WCC's financial policies. * Assist the Country Programme Coordinator in documenting and reporting on field operations, providing critical insights and data to inform program development and evaluation. * Maintain meticulous records of project activities, adhering to WCC's guidance and ensuring transparency and accountability in all aspects of the role. * Conduct regular hospital visits to identify the needs of marginalized families and provide targeted support to ensure they can access and continue treatment facilities.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Social Science (BSS)
  • training or a degree in mental health/psychosocial
