Key Responsibilities
* Lead the assessment of the local rice market system in Barguna district, focusing on its resilience and functionality in disaster-prone areas.
* Drive the collection and analysis of data on market dynamics, including availability, pricing, market linkages, and vulnerabilities across key market actors.
* Architect a comprehensive research framework to examine the rice market system under normal conditions and during disaster and post-disaster periods.
* Manage field travel and data collection activities in Barguna district, ensuring timely and high-quality data collection.
* Collaborate with the Lead Researcher and Director – Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RME) to design and implement the research methodology.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local market actors, farmers, and community leaders, to gather insights and information.
* Analyze and interpret research findings, identifying areas of strength and weakness in the local rice market system and informing recommendations for market-based and resilience-oriented programming.
* Create actionable, evidence-based insights and recommendations to support Oxfam and its partners in making informed decisions on strengthening the local rice market system.
* Deliver high-quality research reports and presentations, effectively communicating research findings and implications to stakeholders.
* Contribute to the development of future market-based, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and livelihood resilience programming, leveraging research findings to identify realistic entry points for strengthening the local rice market system.
