Key Responsibilities
* Spearhead watershed management initiatives by analyzing field assessments, maps, and hazard data to inform flood and landslide mitigation strategies.
* Design and implement watershed treatment measures, including slope stabilization, erosion control, and rainwater harvesting interventions, in collaboration with local communities.
* Drive integrated ridge-to-valley watershed management approaches, linking upland slope stabilization with downstream flood mitigation to ensure holistic solutions.
* Foster strategic partnerships with government counterparts and represent the organization in technical forums to align watershed and disaster risk reduction interventions.
* Lead the rehabilitation of degraded catchments using nature-based and community-led solutions to reduce landslide and flood risks.
* Develop and implement community engagement and capacity-building initiatives on watershed management and disaster preparedness, promoting inclusive programming and social equity.
* Architect project development on watershed and disaster risk reduction initiatives, including concept notes, proposals, technical inputs, budgeting, and donor reporting.
* Organize and facilitate technical workshops, joint field visits, and review meetings with partners, ensuring knowledge sharing and documentation of best practices.
* Analyze landslide and flood risk data, supporting the activation of early warning protocols and enabling timely anticipatory actions.
* Develop hazard-specific preparedness plans, community awareness initiatives, and risk-informed interventions, integrating accountability, gender equity, and protection considerations.
* Manage project work plans, activity schedules, and budgets in coordination with programme and operations teams, ensuring effective implementation and monitoring.
* Oversee the systematic collection, organization, and management of field data for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) purposes.
* Supervise field-level implementation with partners, service providers, and community groups, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of watershed and disaster risk reduction activities.
* Collaborate with technical experts to refine the Landslide Early Warning System (LEWS), strengthening field functionality and response readiness.
* Drive inclusive programming by integrating Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), gender equity, and protection considerations into planning and implementation.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor/Honors Bachelor’s degree in forestry
- Environmental Science
- Agroforestry
- Zoology
- Disaster Management
- Geography or related discipline
Additional
- Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in supporting programme and/or project implementation
