Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of water sampling plans, ensuring the delivery of safe drinking water to refugee camps and host communities that meet WHO, EPA, and local DPHE standards.
* Drive water quality testing and analysis, conducting regular chemical, physical, and bacteriological tests to identify potential pollution risks and reporting any concerns immediately.
* Architect and execute emergency water treatment plans, including chlorination of drinking water, to ensure the health and safety of communities.
* Manage the development of technical resources, such as strategic frameworks, standard operating procedures, and manuals, to guide laboratory interventions and WASH lab operations.
* Design and maintain monitoring tools, including checklists and dashboards, to track water quality and contamination, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
* Provide technical support and training to WASH team members, water sample collectors, and field staff to enhance their capacity and ensure accurate data collection.
* Oversee the management of water quality data, ensuring accuracy and reliability, and provide insights to inform program decisions.
* Develop and implement capacity-building programs for lab staff, including regular training and workshops to enhance their skills and knowledge.
* Manage laboratory operations, including reagent expenditures, budgets, and activity expenses, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
* Collaborate with the Hygiene Promotion team to design and deliver awareness and education campaigns on best practices in water handling, storage, and usage.
* Ensure timely and accurate documentation of test results, recommendations, and reports, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates.
* Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure adequate stock of reagents and tools for water testing, raising requests as needed to prevent stockouts.
* Champion safeguarding efforts, prioritizing the safety and well-being of program participants, team members, and communities, and promoting a culture of respect, dignity, and protection from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.

Education
- Bachelor/Honors Bsc in Microbiology, Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering, Biochemistry or Equivalent subjects
Additional
- Strong knowledge of WASH and development sector in humanitarian response
- Ability to ensure functionality of water quality laboratories
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Skills in GIS and mapping
- Strong technical capacity in site supervision
- Effective documentation, reporting, and communication skills
- Demonstrated competencies in supportive supervision, team building, collaboration, and stakeholder relationship management
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and efficient project and time management skills
