Research Assistant

* Spearhead laboratory operations, providing faculty support and ensuring seamless execution of laboratory classes. * Oversee equipment operation, enforcing safety protocols and best practices among research students. * Drive routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and apparatus, guaranteeing optimal functionality. * Mentor senior project students in laboratory upkeep, including apparatus cleaning, media preparation, and other essential tasks. * Lead overall laboratory management, fostering a safe, cooperative, and productive environment for faculty and students. * Champion a culture of cleanliness and organization, holding students, SoDs, and lab assistants accountable for maintaining a tidy and well-organized laboratory space. * Manage and update critical laboratory records, including chemical inventories, equipment lists, MSDS, and PSDS, to ensure compliance and accuracy. * Safeguard the laboratory, preventing unauthorized access, incidents, or removal of assets, and escalating serious incidents to the Dean/Head of the School of Life Sciences. * Activate emergency response protocols, notifying IUB authorities and relevant stakeholders in the event of accidents, incidents, or unsafe practices. * Serve as a key point of contact, reporting directly to the Dean/Head of the Department and executing additional responsibilities as assigned.
