Key Responsibilities
* Drive the entire import process, ensuring seamless compliance with Bangladesh customs regulations, government policies, and relevant laws.
* Architect and manage commercial contracts, Letters of Credit, and payment terms to align with government policies and regulations.
* Lead cross-functional collaboration with banks, customs agents, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient import operations.
* Manage and optimize operational costs, focusing on minimizing demurrage, delay charges, and transportation expenses.
* Negotiate and secure competitive freight rates and payment terms with suppliers and service providers to achieve cost savings.
* Oversee the end-to-end import documentation process, ensuring swift and compliant customs clearance at ports.
* Ensure adherence to Bangladesh's Customs Act, Import Policy, Foreign Exchange Policy, and relevant regulations.
* Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams (Procurement, Production, Finance) and external partners (suppliers, customs agents, logistics providers).
* Coordinate the import process from suppliers to ensure timely and efficient flow of goods via multiple transportation modes.
* Communicate with overseas suppliers to track shipment schedules and resolve pre-shipment issues.
* Expedite customs clearance and port operations by liaising with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and C&F agents.
* Monitor cargo status at ports to minimize delays and optimize logistics operations.
* Collaborate with Procurement and Inventory/Warehouse teams to align delivery schedules with production demand and maintain optimal stock levels.
* Analyze and report on import operations, providing insights and recommendations to management as required.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with the ASYCUDA WORLD System
- Sound knowledge of proper HS Code classification of imported items
- Excellent vendor and service provider negotiation skills
